Change of Seasons at Garden Alchemist

There are some exciting changes happening here at Garden Alchemist, including a fresh new website, new branding, I'm continuing my education, expanding my services, and even a growing the team!
A Fresh Look for Garden Alchemist
You might have noticed that things are looking a little different around here! I've been busy revitalizing Garden Alchemist with updated branding, a completely redesigned website, a new shop section, a resources page and some exciting changes to my services. This update has been a labour of love, and I'm so happy to finally share it with you. While the appearance of Garden Alchemist is evolving, the values behind my work remain the same: creating beautiful, ecologically functional landscapes that support biodiversity, healthy soils, and a more resilient future.
Continuing My Horticultural Education
November 2026, I'll be heading back to school full time for six weeks to complete my Level 3 Landscape Horticulture training. Then, in February 2027, I'll return for another six weeks to complete Level 4.
Upon completing these levels I will receive my Red Seal in Landscape Horticulture, which is an exciting milestone in my professional journey!
Continuing my education is very important to me, having completed my 2 year diploma in permaculture design and education this past January, recieving my meadow makers certificate this spring and now onto finish my Red Seal! There's so much to learn about plants, soils, ecosystems, and the landscapes we care for, and I'm looking forward to bringing even more knowledge and experience into my work.
As part of this next chapter, I'll also be updating my service rates in 2027 to reflect my continued professional development and the growth of my business.
Growing Beyond a Team of One!
One of the biggest changes coming to Garden Alchemist in 2027 is the expansion of my team!
After years of operating independently, I'm excited to begin bringing on some additional helping hands. This will allow Garden Alchemist to take on more projects, expand our services, and provide additional support to clients throughout the Greater Victoria region. While some services may be carried out by members of my team rather than directly by me, the same ecological values and commitment to quality will remain at the heart of everything we do.
Which brings me to my next exciting announcement...
Introducing Ecological Garden Maintenance Services!
Ecological garden maintenance focuses on enhancing the ecological and aesthetic value of landscapes throughout the seasons.
Our services will focus on practices such as:
Seasonal garden care and selective pruning
Native plant and pollinator garden maintenance
Organic soil improvement and mulching
Invasive species management
Edible garden and foodscape care
Supporting beneficial wildlife and natural ecological processes
FireSmart yard care and maintenance
Our approach also means there are some conventional landscaping services we won't be offering, including lawn mowing, hedge trimming, synthetic chemical applications, and routine leaf blowing.
Typically, these services are best for native plant gardens, thriving foodscapes, or gardens you're hoping to manage more sustainably. If that sounds like you, then our growing team will help your garden flourish while supporting your backyard ecosystem.

Looking Ahead to 2027
As I prepare for another chapter of learning, teaching, designing, and growing Garden Alchemist, I'm feeling incredibly excited about what the future holds. My hope is to continue to make ecological horticulture more accessible, helping people see their gardens as living ecosystems rather than simply ornamental spaces.
Whether that means planting more native wildflowers, improving soil health, creating wildlife habitat, growing food, or making landscapes more resilient to wildfire and drought, every little action contributes to a healthier environment and future!
Thank You for Growing With Me!
To everyone who has attended a workshop, invited me into their garden, recommended my services, shared my work, or simply followed along on this journey, thank you!
Your support has allowed me to continue doing work that I genuinely love, and I'm so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community of gardeners, nature lovers, and people working toward a more resilient future. Here's to another year of learning, growing, and creating landscapes that nourish both people and the planet.
Happy autumn and happy gardening!
