About This Class:
This class explores how gardening with native plants can create resilient, beautiful, and ecologically rich landscapes. We will look at how native plants support pollinators and wildlife, build healthier soils, conserve water, and adapt better to climate extremes, all while reducing maintenance over time. We will learn about keystone native plant species and all about some of the best native plants to include in our gardens on Vancouver Island. The class connects ecology to everyday gardening, showing how native plants fit into home gardens alongside ornamentals, food plants, and existing landscapes. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of why native plants matter, and how to design gardens that look beautiful and feel alive.
